The Avedis Donabedian Foundation, in collaboration with several sponsors, created the Avedis Donabedian Quality Awards for healthcare institutions in 1989, with the aim of recognizing different aspects of quality in healthcare centers and setting future development trends for various areas. The first award introduced was the Best Report Award for a healthcare and social institution, which was so well received by professionals in the sector that in 1993, the Avedis Donabedian Quality Awards were established. These awards recognized institutions that had a quality plan as a pathway to excellence and could demonstrate their results in terms of improved care and user satisfaction, allowing them to showcase their work and receive well-deserved recognition.
